Energy Management Unit

Setting up an Energy Management Unit (EMU) for Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) with MRC group

An EMU concept scope was developed by WEC for AEDC.  The aim was to have a unit that will monitor AEDC’s load flow in its network and determine energy consumption per area. The model developed enabled AEDC compute data which allowed the distribution company determine how its energy should be traded within its coverage area, which is essential to optimise revenue. The unit was also responsible for the settlement of bulk trading and services for NBET and TCN interaction.
Energy management system is not only required by a distribution company but also essential for power plants wanting to supply electricity consumers directly.
